CON = Certificate of Need=

The program prevents unnecessary duplication of services by selecting the best proposal among competing applicants who wish to provide a particular health service. CON in Florida regulates hospice, skilled nursing, intermediate care for the developmentally disabled, the development of new hospitals and certain hospital services. It does not regulate outpatient services, home health services or the purchase of major medical equipment.

I don't know if they are going away. Personally, I prefer closed MR units. But, many places still use open MRs. As long as open MRs are reimbursed similar to closed MRs, they will probably be around. There are different types of open MRs and quality really differs, in my opinion.

From the research I've been doing, I've heard both sides of the story targeting Open MRIs. Has anyone heard anything about this? Some say they are slowing disintegrating away, while others say they are still worth something.  Any thoughts on the new stand-up MRIs?

Anyone here own an imaging center? If so where and how's business? We have been actively looking for a business to purchase on the east coast (particularly OH and FL, because of the ability to operate without a CON). Any suggestions? Ohio has none listed, meanwhile Florida has quite a handful of these businesses for sale; why is that?

thanks in advance for a fulfilling response/ input

 Kiss
